Confession. I love the red carpet. I have always dreamed about being on it. Unfortunately, although my mom calls me a drama queen, I'm pretty sure I'll never make it to the Academy Awards. Dang. But I'll keep dreaming just the same.
I'll tell you what, though. As long as I'm watching from home, I'm convinced that the only way to watch is to tape them. (Some of you modern TV watchers call that TiVo, but for me, it's a good old fashioned VHS tape and I love it.) That way you can fast forward through all the advertisements and acceptance speeches by the guys who won for art direction and sound editing.
Best part of Sunday night? The musical montage, put together by Baz Luhrman (who I love) and performed by Hugh Jackman (could he be any more darling?) and Beyonce (what would you give for a voice like that?) and other peeps (CJ, if you are reading this, are you mad that I didn't just specifically mentioned Zac Efron? OK now I did.). It ended with Hugh Jackman proclaiming, "The musical is back!" which pretty much tickled me pink.
Now, for your Trivial Tuesday... Whose look did you like the best? For dresses, I've got to go with Anne Hathaway's sparkly number and Marisa Tomei's amazingly designed, tons-o-fabric-yet-slimming gown. And I think Anne Hathaway just looked great and has that timeless, classic, Audrey Hepburnish feel.

Count me in on being obsessed with Hollywood fashion. You can't go wrong with Anne H. She is always lovely at red carpet events. I also loved the white gown on Taraji P. Henson

Lovely! Her short bobbed haircut was adorable.
I LOVED Taraji P. Henson. My absolute favorite!

And I was pleasantly surprised to see Miley Cyrus actually looking her age (but why was she at the Oscars?? For Bolt? Pshaw.)
I confess, I didn't manage to watch the beginning (dinnertime, you know), but my favorite moment of the night was watching Anne Hathaway while Shirley Maclaine was paying tribute to her. Can you imagine? I mean Shirley's a little quirky, but a LEGEND nonetheless. My only comment on the fashion is that I thought Reese Whitherspoon's hair looked weird. Also didn't like Kate Winslet's hair. But I did like Ben Stiller. Hilarious. Hey, can you save your tape for when I'm home in April -- I want to watch the opening number with you.
How was that for a rambling comment?
Thanks Anne :)
oooh...hands down penelope cruiz and sarah jessica parker. they were both creamy and fluffy and wedding gowninsh. penelope's was 60 old. I LOVED it...them.
Loved the Oscars. Loves the dresses. Love that we had a joint staff meeting today and someone wore a BELT!!!!!
I didn't get to watch very much of it. I usually like to catch the red carpet shows since it's my favorite looking at all the dresses. But I didn't check the time and missed them. Then I didn't realize it started at 6 so I missed the opening number you're talking about... but surely I can find it online somewhere! I too loved Anne H. She's pretty! Didn't like Reese Witherspoon's dress. Like her though. And I thought SJP boobs were going to fall out... but Danielle's right, her dress was pretty. Penelope Cruz dress was pretty too. And now I can't remember any others. And that Taraji girls dress was gorg too.
And speaking of stars and stuff, do you watch 30 Rock? Wasn't the Valentine's episode hilarious!? Mark and I couldn't stop laughing about the chili and stuff! That Tina Fey, so funny!
Obsessed may not cover how I feel about the Oscars, it's like Christmas for me, my sister and I even wear ball gowns and vote. Anyways, on to the fashion. This year I was somewhat dissapointed in the dresses, nothing stood out to me as an "Oscar" dress. Anne H came the closest for me, and so did Marissa T. Also liked Evan Rachel Wood's dress, very elegant. But what was going on with Jessica Biel's dress?? Horrible. And totally agree with Kate Winslet's hair, not good. Overall I think the Oscar's were good, loved how they had past winners talk about each nominee and of course Hugh did a great job.
PS. I spent a week with Annie H. and she is actually more beautiful in person, if that's even possible. And super sweet and down to Earth too... we should probably hate her ;)
