Hi...hello...are you out there?

{We finally blessed Jared Carter. I really like the look on my face in this picture. It says, 'I love this boy and I am at peace being a mother.' 5 years ago I did not look like that.}

It's weird trying to adjust from Bloom back to this blog, where I feel like a stranger. The whole point of saying goodbye to Bloom was that I don't want to blog every day, so that is feeling like a relief, but the hard part is feeling so disconnected from people. Like, is any one out there?

I'm happy to just post on here like it's my journal, but sometimes I wonder what else to post. For example, yesterday I made really delicious chocolate frosting. It had sour cream in it, which made it nice and tangy. Should I post that recipe? Or would that be a waste of time?

One great thing I noticed in week one of no Bloom is that I spent far less time on the computer in general. Which is good because I am a little bit sick of most of the blog world I have participated in. It's all too much. Too much focus on stuff, too much time, too much wanting and wishing. And it all becomes so repetitive. It's mostly all the same stuff, over and over again. I'm kind of over it all right now. Not in a self-righteous sort of way. Just in a 'I don't want to feel dissatisfied with my own life' sort of way. Plus I just have too much to do. Like swimming with my kids. Plus you should see the upstairs toilet right now. Grrrrross.

Now that I'm not blogging about blooming I am hoping to have time for more actual blooming. I am planning a Nie-inspired back to school feast for Blaine, just purchased a pattern to make myself a new skirt, am training for the 5K that almost killed me last fall, have high hopes to recover my vomit-inducing living room chairs, and want to buy a piano. Plus this: I haven't printed a photograph since Roger was a baby (March 2008). Heaven help me that is going to be a long (but important!) project.

Time to go tackle my post-weekend mess.

p.s. seriously though, is anyone out there?

I'm here! Because I use Google Reader and it automatically updates when you post. Thank heavens for that! Glad you are back to normal blogging. (and, you should really just make a book from your blog, then you don't have to print pictures.) :)

Hi Anne - Im here!!!! and reading... I followed you over from Bloom because of a few reasons mostly becaue you are very inspirational. I am new to the blogs of the world recently buying a home I am consumed with choices and what to do in just about every room.... and almost feel relieved by this post in which you sad you were tired of wanting or wishing.... I feel that way to... Its too much and we should be enjoying what we have and the blessings throughout the day... really enjoying them..not filling them with "well I really need a new bathroom fixture" In the end the material things dont really matter, and your blog helps me to remember just that!!! So on that note thank you, and anything you want to share from chocolate frosting(which I LOVE) to inspirational entries... Im sure I speak for the community when saying "WE LOVE THEM"

I followed you over from Bloom because I think one of the great blessings of blogging is learning from the examples of others. Thanks for another post full of great perspective, Anne!

Anne dear, I have been missing the Personal blog updates and am thrilled to see you back here. And I say, if you have the inclination to post a recipe or project or whatever, go for it! (as long as it's when you feel like it and you don't start feeling obligated to document/share every little thing- you can be as sporadic as you want!).
Love and miss you,
Lisa
ps-I love the way you look in that picture and I love that Jared Carter looks like a perfect mix of Blaine and Rodge. :)

I'm here! I've missed this blog! Glad you're back. Carter is so adorable. I agree that he is a good mix of Blaine and Rodge. And what? Blaine is going to school?! WOW!

I guess a few of us followed you over. I'm glad you are refocusing and finding peace. You are a great writer, and while we enjoy hearing about your thoughts and inspiration, I know your children are going to benefit from reading the most. That's what I love best about blogging; sharing my thoughts, ideas and feelings with the idea that one day I can share myself with my daughters when they will probably need my advice most. ;)

Thank you for doing Bloom. And thank you for ending Bloom. Your words on both blogs have been an answer to prayers this week. We are all better for reading your words--keep them coming in whatever form you want :)

Hi. So I'm here obviously, but wanted to say that the whole point is to share whatever you feel like sharing. You definitely have enough readers that it's worth the effort. But it's not worth the effort if it's stressful or your day is too busy or whatever. Guess that's obvious. I thought about stopping blogging a couple of years ago and one of my (few) friends that read mine said, don't stop. Just post when you feel like it again. And she was right -- at some point I felt like it. And sometimes I'm so busy I don't post for two months. I love it when people I know in real life (you) share recipes and tips, because I know they'll actually work, so don't ever wonder if something is worthwhile. Or if you're too busy to blog, just call me and tell ME :)

p.s. I haven't printed a photograph since maybe 2005, so I win! (I mean lose...)

HELLO! Congratulations and good luck on your new path. I hope it brings simplicity and focus to you but don't be hard on yourself. Many of us SAHM's are looking for an outlet - inspiration and contact with others that can be there for us.

Happy you're back! I've missed you over here. I'm with you on the blog world. For a while now I've mostly kept up with just my closest friends... so it was sad when bloom took all your time... because I just LOVE seeing new posts here. Guilt free blogging is the only way to go. Post when you want, don't post when you're busy. But never feel guilty about doing it or not! And I was thinking I should do some picture printing too! Big project!

love you

I got to the point with blogging that I had to step back. I found myself blogging not for me and that didn't sit right with myself. So there are times now that my blog will go over a month without a post, and somedays there will be more than one. The point is, blogging needs to be a place to express you without pressure. Your little babe is a doll <3 and it was so good to see you on Sunday. I think that your class makes me feel amazing after it's over and I need to strive harder to get myself and my family there more often - like every Sunday.
