TT: Mormon Edition

Last week I was hanging out with some old friends who were in town. We were chatting a bit about blogs and they asked me where I get all my information for Trivial Tuesdays. They were surprised (and probably horrified) when I told them that it all comes from this steel-trap brain of mine. I don't even see that many movies lately, and since giving up cable (sigh!) I rarely watch TV. But if I see something once--like a People mag cover at the grocery store--it's locked in. Sometimes I have help though. Like this week. During our Sunday dinner, my sis-in-law, Jill mentioned that she had come across a funny website about famous Mormons. (What? You think I'm giving you the link right now so you can cheat on the answers? Not a chance.) And I said, "Mormonism? Famous people? Yes, please!"

So I checked it out and it seems reputable enough. So for today, I give you a true/false quiz. See, there are always these hilarious rumors floating around about stars that are supposedly Mormon. So I present to you six stars. You tell me true, or false.

#1. Steve Martin

#2. Rick Schroder

#3. Katherine Heigl

#4. Christina Aguilera

#5. Alice Cooper

#6. Aaron Eckhart

You left out Amy Adams, but maybe everyone knows that one. Why have I heard that rumor about Christina A? I don't know if there's a place to read Rick Schroeder's conversion story, but I've heard a little about it and it's very inspiring. What's not inspiring is that almost every famous Mormon seems not to be a believing member any more -- is it so hard to be famous and faithful?

Hey Anne!

We love your blog. Always good to hear from you. Kevin and I would like to add Paul Walker to the list? Was he on the website? We saw Rick Schroeder walking down North Temple during General Conference right after his conversion. It was awesome!

Take care,
Nicole (and Kevin and Noah)

I'm with you on the "steel trap brain". Sadly, it seems to be solely on Hollywood stuff. I know Rick converted to the Church (and is active?) and Katherine and Aaron were born LDS but have nothing to do with the church now.

Remember that seminary video, "Godly Sorrow"? (yes, that is where that song came from) I believe that Aaron Eckhart was the clean- cut fiance to the female lead character.

We are sista'a from different mista's. I don't know why my memory is dialed into hollywood, but at least I save my friends sleepless nights. Sometimes when watching animated movies, I play a little game with myself on how quickly I can identify who's voice it is. I always win ;) Also add to your "Mormons...ya right" list is Eliza Dushku. Her Grandma was in Kirse Granat's ward in Boston.
