My Fat Baby

Lots of you have asked to see the babe. Sorry I've been so delinquent. We won't have the Internet home for another few days, so be patient with me. Most of these pics are already a few weeks old. I need to take and post some new ones. At 7 weeks he already weighed almost 13 pounds, and he's grown a bunch more since then. He's a regular fatty and we are loving it. He does pretty well at night and is increasingly cheerful during the day. He's a mad spitter-upper, which means jillions of loads of laundry, but no big woop. For a while we thought he seemed overly fussy, and my pediatrician had me cut milk, eggs, nuts, whole grain, chocolate, and citrus out of my diet. (I know, what could I eat?!) I started with vigor and zeal, but after 2 weeks I was going bonkers because 1. he was still fussy and 2. I was missing out on everything I love to eat. I mean don't get me wrong, Rice Dream is great and everything, but by day 10 I was jonesin' for a big fat chocolate brownie and wanted to wash it down with the world's largest glass of milk. And so I ate those things. And am still eating them. And ironically, he is now starting to cheer up. Sometimes I think I think too hard. I'm breaking a sweat riverdancing with the baby, trying to calm him down, and all the while his diaper is full of poo. Why don't I just meet his basic needs and see if that makes him less fussy? Geez, what a brainiac. Mostly when he's really mad, he's just tired. I think we often underestimate how much sleep these little guys need. All that growing is a lot of work! So that's the basic scoop on Baby Rog. He's smiley and darling and fat and squishy as can be. And I am loving having a baby. I've said before that I regret what a basketcase I was when Blaine was new. I didn't enjoy this age enough. I've learned my lesson and am trying to cherish the moments. I think Madonna sang about that. Anyway. Here are the pics.

I can't believe how big he's getting! I know what you mean about meeting basic needs. I remember when Samuel was a baby and he would be fussy and my mom would say, well, have you put him down for a nap! Yeah, sometimes I'm just extra dense! I hope you guys are having fun back in OR.

I don't think that I could love him anymore in those little khakis and green sweater, oh my, too cute! So glad to hear he is less fussy, I know how hard that can be!

He looks so much different than Blaine. Anne + Taylor = GORGEOUS CHILDREN. My, you are a great combo.

Isn't it crazy how different our kids can look? I just figured that Max would look exactly like James. But they look so different.
I think Rog is good and fat (that's what I always say to Max). Or as you and Tay would say DELISH!

Anne, you crack me up! And babies aren't that cute unless they're really fat, so I think Rog is safe. Eat that chocolate, girl!
