I never attempt the grocery store with all four kids. (Because what if Clara cries or Carter melts down or Rog has to go to the bathroom or Blaine throws a fit over something I won't buy him?!) Usually my mom helps me out by watching Carter or accompanies us to Costco or even picks a few things up at the store and drops them off--my own personal delivery service (yes, I am spoiled).
But yesterday we were having dinner guests and I needed a few last items. So on a rainy Tuesday at 4:00 we packed it up and headed to our little Ray's Food Place. I fed everyone a snack beforehand, gave the team a major pep talk, and may or may not have offered a sugary reward for good behavior. (Maybe you take 4 kids to
the store all the time and you think I'm a wimp and a dork for writing a post about my trip to the grocery store. I'm OK with that.)
Both babes don't fit in the cart, so Blaine had to push Clara in the stroller. He took out a couple of end caps, but mostly did great! We got all sorts of looks and smiles. I'm sure we looked like a ridiculous little caravan. The produce man congratulated me on finally getting a girl.
On our way out we bumped into my friend Wendy, with her two youngest daughters. She greeted us in the enthusiastic, loving way she always does, and exclaimed, "this is beautiful!" Then, as a seasoned mother of 6, who remembers countless scenes like this of her own, she asked, "do you have an iPhone? You need a picture of this."
Thanks for that, Wendy. I never want to forget these crazy, hilarious adventures.

I'm proud of you! Good job lady!! Such a cute picture
I have a similar picture in a similar situation taken (and suggested) by the same wonderful Wendy!
You are very, very brave. And an awesome mom.
AMAZING. Nothing short of a miracle that you walked away from that unscathed! :)
Wow! Good for you! Blogging about going shopping with 4 kids is totally valid! I only have 2 and I hate going with both of them, although I end up having to do this most of the time. Car carts/kid carts are my saving grace! Good for you!
What a great friend to take a pic of this. My dad usually does that for me, and I like seeing what I look like doing whatever it is. My mom wasn't in a lot of photos, so I hope my girls appreciate it.
This is awesome. I totally need a picture. You look so good out and about running errands!
Wendy is the best- I have a bunch of fun phone pics with my kids thanks to her! And hooray for surviving your shopping trip (next time just drop a few off at my house!!)
look at all those kids! you're amazing! and you look fabulous!
I love that you have a picture of it! I feel the same way when I take my 4 out. You are awesome.
how do you look so amazing?
I am totally impressed. I give up if I have to take more than one to the store anymore. I got wimpier as time went on (or maybe seasoned enough to know what to avoid!)
You and your brood look so great.
